In many communities across Uganda today, a significant number of families are facing severe economic hardship, unemployment, and social challenges. These difficulties are often accompanied by emotional stress, family conflict, illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, and separation, making it increasingly difficult for parents and caregivers to provide adequate care and support for their children.
As a result, many children are left vulnerable to neglect, abandonment, abuse, child labour, early marriage, and school dropout. Some are forced to live with elderly grandparents or other relatives who have limited financial resources, while others lack access to basic necessities such as education, healthcare, nutritious food, clothing, and emotional support. Without timely intervention, these children face increased risks of exploitation, poor health, and limited opportunities to achieve their full potential.
Young Visionaries Foundation recognizes these growing challenges, and is committed to restoring hope to vulnerable children and their families through education support, mentorship, counselling, health and hygiene programs, family empowerment initiatives, and community-based interventions. By working closely with families, community leaders, churches, schools, and development partners, we aim to strengthen families, protect children's rights, and create a safe and supportive environment where every child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive.
Why Counselling Matters at Young Visionaries Foundation?
- Promoting Healthy Minds and Positive Emotions in Children and Communities: Young Visionaries Foundation provides safe, confidential, and accessible counselling services to support children and people experiencing emotional challenges such as stress, anxiety, trauma, and depression. Our goal is to promote healing, emotional balance, and healthy coping skills.
- Personal Growth and Life Skills: We support children and youth in building self-confidence and self-understanding through guided children mentorships counselling sessions. By focusing on self-worth, goal setting, responsible decision-making, and problem-solving, we help young people develop the skills they need to navigate life with confidence.
- Peer Support and Community Connection: We foster peer support groups and guided group counselling sessions that encourage openness, empathy, and shared learning. These safe spaces allow children and youth to connect, support one another, and grow together while facing similar life challenges.
